Haflingers of Horsefeathers Farm
My treasures do not clink together or glitter-
They gleam in the sun and neigh in the night."
Haflinger ponies originated in the Tyrol region of Austria as small working ponies. Ranging from about 13.2hh to 15.1hh, with most around 14.1hh, they are muscular, heavy-boned ponies with a surprisingly athletic nature and the strength to carry an adult rider with ease. Their broad barrels make them a comfortable mount for even tall adults, and their sweet nature makes them wonderful partners for equestrians of any age.
In our area, most haflingers are driven, but haflingers are very competitive in many equestrian disciplines, ranging from hunter/jumper to western reining to dressage to driving.
Haflingers come in only one color/pattern which is chesnut with a white (or flaxen) mane and tail. They vary from a rich brown shade (like Lissa) to pale near-palomino colors (although genetically they are still chesnuts- they do not carry the dilute genes for palominos) and have varying amounts of white markings on their faces and legs.

Lissa is not supposed to be in this part of the yard, but looks very pleased with herself!

"Lissa"
Lipazia WTF (click for pedigree)
Lissa is Aife's horse and turned 5 in November. She is out of an L-line mare, Little Lulu, and features primarily M and W lines in her background. She has three gorgeous gaits and beautiful movement. She's been driven in the past and will be started under saddle this spring. Her son, Parsley, can be seen on our Foals page.
Although we didn't know her registered name when we chose Lissa as her barn name, Lissa is named after a character in Mercedes Lackey's Last Herald Mage trilogy.

Yfandes
Grade haflinger mare
Yfandes is named after a Companion in Mercedes Lackey's Last Herald Mage trilogy. Companions are magical horses with human-like intelligence and telepathy. (Okay, okay, geez, I KNOW they aren't horses, but they are horse-shaped, anyway.)'Fandes is Morrghan's horse and more or less the Boss of the Horsefeathers herd. Her 2005 foal Sage is for sale on our Foals page.
Haflinger Foals
Lissa and Yfandes' 2005 foals are viewable on the "For Sale" page. Parsley (colt) and Sage (filly) are both learning manners before they will be available for purchase.
We are expecting two more foals in 2006 by the same sire.
